I was out walking with my 4 year old daughter. She picked up something off the ground and started to put it in her mouth. I took the item away from her and I asked her not to do that. 'Why?' my daughter asked. 'Because it's been on the ground, you don't know where it's been, it's dirty, and probably has germs' I replied.
At this point, my daughter looked at me with total admiration and asked, 'Momma, how do you know all this stuff, you are so smart.' I was thinking quickly. 'All moms know this stuff. It's on the Mom Test. You have to know it, or they don't let you be a Mom.'
We walked along in silence for 2 or 3 minutes, but she was evidently pondering this new information. 'OH...I get it!' she beamed, 'So if you don't pass the test you have to be the Dad. ''Exactly' I replied back with a big smile on my face

So as some of you know the last few weeks, ok months, have been AWFUL for my little fam. I don't understand why we are subjected to so many trials. I've been trying to figure out what exactly I am supposed to learn, but I just don't know! I'm thankful that we're studying Joseph Smith this year in Sunday school -- I've loved being able to actually go to the lessons lately ... with no children on my lap. What a great man! I wonder if he ever wondered why he had the trials that he did. When he layed down that baby after holding him through the night, I can't imagine the anguish that Joseph must've felt when that little boy died. Some times in life it feels like all I can do is keep my head above the water. Do you ever feel that way?
So I'm trying to cut back on one of my vices ... Dr. Pepper.
I try and I try. I thought maybe it would help to just drink the diet stuff. No go, just doesn't do it for me. So I go back to drinking the hard stuff.
Today I've had whining chillens who want me to go outside with them. Didn't they get the memo that mama was tired. I yawn *YAWN* and then think that I must need a Dr. Pepper. Is that wrong? Should I really have (& I mean HAVE) to drink a beverage to actually get off my duffer and finish putting the laundry away, or go outside with the kiddies? Just a thought... :)
Cheerio!
(Notice that I used the color from a Dr. Pepper can for my font color, aren't I clever ;)
This last year has been full of turmoil. And 2008 seems to be following in those footsteps. In order to maintain my own sanity, I've made a list of a few resolutions that I want to work on this year.
**Annie Tuckett's Resolutions that will make 2008 a lot better than 2007**
1. Never work for family (at least not for certain family)
2. Blog more often, it makes me laugh at myself. It's amazing how entertaining I think that I am.
3. Read the scriptures every day with the boys, not just once in a while, I want them to know the scripture stories better than they know any disney movies (including Cars)
4. Keep my sink shiny (and other SAHM duties)
5. Make my bed everyday (this one is for Quin, it matters to him for some weird reason that I don't understand. I guess I don't have to understand, just do it)
6. Be an amazing aunt (it's about freaking time!)
7. Reach out to old & new friends
8. Be gentle to myself ... I'm the only me I got. :)
Well I better go shine my sink ... I think I may have OCD. What do you think?
